I wanted to post pictures of the cane Aaron made for reenacting. Muhahahah, I have officially brought him to the dark side :-) He is really getting into reenacting. Plus, he is starting to develop a personae. Soon we will have a Dr. and a gentleman :-)

 

Christmas in October

My wonderful husband bought me the best present a costumer could ask for. It’s technically for Christmas, but it came early so I can start on my project. Drum Roll Please!!!!!

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, it’s a large embroidery hoop. Not only is it fully adjustable, but I can use it while sitting on the sofa. It’s perfect for the “Great Metal Embroidery Project of 2010.” Tee Hee! This costumer is most please. Thank you babe! I love you :-)

The Camping Trip…

This weekend Aaron and I decided to go camping. We dropped Birdie Boy off at Auntie Cheryl and Uncle Tim’s and took the dogs for a little adventure.

We had intended to find a spot at Frying Pan lake, however, we found that it was a marshy swamp like place with no way to get to the water. So we ended up camping off a forest road near Timothy Lake.

The dogs ended up being miserable. We had to tie them up while me made camp and got a small fire going. Leila did not like the fire part at all. They had a long rope, but they couldn’t sit next to us while we cooked and they didn’t have their couch, slightly spoiled.

After dinner we headed into the tent and Aaron taught me how to play poker. Max immediately conked out in the tent, but Leila Lu was not a happy camper.She was in constant guard dog mode and just sat facing the door all night and growled. She finally did fall asleep for about an hour. At about 2:30, I needed to go. Leila woke up completely freaked out and disoriented. She was so unhappy. So we packed up camp at three in the morning and decided to head home. We got home around six am, showered, and all four of us jumped into bed and slept until eleven. And so ended our little trip. Three Down, One to Go....

It's official... Hubby is now a fourth year dental student. We officially have one year left and then we will be done with school. It's crazy how quickly the time has gone by, although sometimes it does seem like he has been in school forever. I can't wait till he's done and can start working.

To celebrate, we are going camping this weekend after I get off work on Saturday. We are dropping Birdie Boy off at Auntie Cheryl and Uncle Tim's house and taking Max and Leila with us to rough it. We're going to check out Frying Pan lake and see what we can find. I will be sure to post pictures when we get back. That's all for now! I hope you are all having a great summer. God Bless. Spring Break...

Hello Dear Friends and Readers...

I hope you are all having a wonderful week thus far. Thank you all for your sweet comments on my previous post. I love blog land, you all are such dears.

This coming week is the beginning of the much anticipated OHSU (hubby's school) Spring Break. That means I have a husband again for a week, yeah! It also means that his poor brain gets a much needed rest. This particular Spring Break brings an even more exciting event. Aaron's folks are driving up from good ol' AZ to see us. It's been almost two years since they last visited us and just over a year since we saw them last. So, this is a long overdue visit with them. We are planning to go to Astoria next Tuesday and next Saturday we are taking them to our first big ball of the season in Eugene. I'm super excited to get dressed up again and step back in time for a few hours and share our experience with Aaron's parents. I will certainly be posting pictures throughout their stay.

The Dentist

Well, we met with the dentist last night and it was interesting. However, Aaron and I both feel like it isn't the right fit for us. He is still planning on popping in the office and learning more before we rule out this opportunity. But, we both feel that this is not what God has for us. Also, Aaron is now questioning if we should stay here in Portland. That is stressful for me, because I love it here and we had already made that decision. So I'm asking for prayer in that area that I might be able to go with the flow and that God would be in control of the situation. Thanks for your prayers everyone :-)

Update...

So, Max had his 2 week checkup on Friday morning. It went very well! He's now allowed to go for short walks, get on the furniture, go upstairs, and start swimming in his therapy pool. The main goal now, according to his doctor, is for him to start using his leg. The doctor said if everything goes well he may allow Max to start playing fetch in a couple of weeks. It's quite exciting that he's doing well. Thanks for your prayers everyone.

As for my costumes... I have finished my ball gown and I'm almost finished with my 18th century stays. I will not, however, be posting pictures untill after the ball on Nov. 15th. I don't want to spoil the big reveal at the ball :-) So, you'll have to wait a couple more weeks to see what I've been working on. God Bless!

P.S. Aaron recieved an email from a local Dentist he had sent a letter to about future employment. The Dentist lives in a rural community near Portland, which is what we want, and is a Christian. It's very exciting and I'm praying that this would work out. We are going to be having dinner with him on November 22nd. Please pray for God's guidance and wisdom. Thanks everyone :-)

He Passed!!!!

We just got the word that hubby passed his first board exam. I'm proud of you babe!!!! One down, two to go.

Also, please pray for Max. He's at the vet's getting his Xrays and we have him scheduled for Oct. 17th for surgery. Just keep him, and me in your prays.

Back to the Grind

Today is Aaron's first day back to school. I must say, it's bitter sweet, and I'm having a bit of a hard time with it. I have enjoyed having him home and he has been spoiling me rotten. We've had six weeks of actually seeing each other, not just passing in the hall as we are on our ways to work, school, ect. I'm also glad that he's going back, because everyday is one day closer to his graduation and becoming a dentist. I will be so glad when he is done. It's been harder for me to be patient, especially since we are over the half way point. I know I need to be patient, but sometimes I really struggle with it. So, that is what's going on in our neck of the woods. Tune in on Tuesday for a very special treat! God Bless you guys :-)

Astoria 1811

We had a very blessed weekend in beautiful Astoria. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the Northern Oregon Coast, Astoria is a very old fishing town established in 1811. It was so amazing to visit the historicl sites and relive some 200 years of history. We also had some much needed rest and alone time. We stayed in a Bed and Breakfast that was built in 1906 and had ver few amenities. There was a bathroom, electricity, and beautiful views with no television!!! Yes, you read it right, NO TV!!! It was no wonderful to have no distractions from each other. Below are some pictures from our wonderful trip. God Bless!!!

I absolutely love 100+ year old graffiti. So fascinating, this inscription gives me chills.

Fort Clatsop
This is where Lewis & Clark and their Corps wintered during 1805 and 1806. Another wonderful Regency site.

This gives you a view of how tiny the fort is; Aaron is 6'4"!!!

Could you imagine spending 106 days in the fort, waiting out the winter. To make matters more uncomfortable, only 12 of those days where clear. The rest of the days were rainy or snowy.

This is the site where the Corps landed their canoes.

I was very excited and surprised to learn William Clark adopted Sacagawea's son and provided him with education. It's wonderful to see the beauty of adoption, even in history.

We ended our little journey with a very ridiculous game of scrabble. Note: half of the words are not real :-)
