Finished Stays

I finished my stays tonight after about three days of work, and yes they are entirely hand sewn. They were very easy to put together and I really like the fit, they’re quite comfortable. Here are some pics on my dress form. They fit me much better, but you get the idea. God Bless!

They look great - and you're darn fast at handsewing, I must say, especially stays !

Fabulous and yes I AM totally jealous you knocked these ones over in a weekend. I may have to stop talking to you out of jealousy for at least a week...;p

Wow - they took you, like, five seconds?! You are far too speedy at hand-sewing! *envy* And they're very cute.

Do they give good support? I can't see much boning (unless it's hidden?), so was wondering...

gentlewomanthief: They are lightly boned at each seam. They are pretty supportive, and comfortable.

Thanks everyone :-)

Oh my goodness!

I have had SO much to catch up at your blog. I tried to view pictures from your ball earlier this week but every time I visited your blog the computer wouldn't load the pictures!(we have an ancient, clunky, awkward thing). So now that its allowing me to leave a comment I will comment on all I have been able to see.

First, the ball photos are to die for!

Secondly, I really like the look of the later 1790's that you are going to be working on. It's a beautiful silhouette and one I do not see done very often. I can't wait to see what you do!

Thirdly, these stays are incredible! I also am among those who are jealous of your hand sewing skills. You are so, so talented. I cannot believe you made them so quickly!

Fourthly, how am I EVER going to make all the projects I plan to, because I'm so inspired when I see the ones you've done?!

I like the straps, they seem wider set than the sensibility pattern (?), and the scallops are darling.

Those are fabulous! So inspirational! I would be tempted to pass on the tabs out of laziness though!

Wow! That was fast! They look just like the originals you posted. I actually had to do a double take because I thought at first they were more inspiration shots of originals! Great job!
