Today was my the much awaited picnic at Pittock Mansion. It is one of my favorite events of the year. The setting is gorgeous and the views of the city are spectacular. This year was indeed fun, but quite warm. We’ve just began a heat wave that is supposed to last until next week. It was about 85 degrees at the mansion, which is around 90 degrees in town. It was beautiful in the morning, but started to get uncomfortable towards the end of the afternoon.
We also made quite the spectacle. It always entertains me to see how people react to us. Usually, they either ask to take our pictures with them or they avoid eye contact at all costs. Today, the mansion was swarming with tourists. Aaron and I had our picture taken by so many different people. One little girl came up to me with her mom and asked me if I was real. It was so adorable. I always love watching little girls’ reactions to our bonnets and dresses. They always look like they want to join us :-)
Anyway, enough of my rambling. Here are the pictures! God Bless!

That hat is so wonderfully, fantastically, brilliantly over the top! I loooooooove it!
And you matched so perfectly in all the rooms - green was definitely the right colour for your sash!
Eye candy! Every bit of it!Absolutely lovely.
Gorgeous! You all look abbsolutely PERFECT in the setting.
(and no hat can ever be over-the-top: the bigger the better!)
We had a picnic on Sunday too, and were lucky to have mild weather. Sorry to hear it was so hot there, but I can't tell from the pictures. You all look fantastic!
Hi Lauren,
as usual Aaron's photos rock! Sink Me, if Lady D wasnt in fine form on the mansion balcony, what! I gotta get me a blog so we can link up. I'm so glad you came to our humble bastille day event, and picnicking w/ you is always a pleasure. BTW I need your chicken salad recipe :)
Oh! Breathtaking!! The pictures are all amazing but I especially like the one of Aaron at the bottom of the steps - it looks so absolutely "real" and the one of you on the balcony.
I too love the color of your sash. If there ever was a perfect green that is it. Your hair looks stunning with it!
I love your dress! Where did you get the pattern?
Beautiful pictures! You and Aaron look as if you stepped right out of history! Wonderful work!
I just came across your blog and feel so inspired! I had to say hello! Such a lovely day for you and such beautiful dresses! I look forward to coming back to visit your site again! :)
