Aaron’s Suit

I finally finished a complete suit for Aaron. It was quite the undertaking. I redrafted the pattern from the “Frock Coat of Doom” and revamped my breeches pattern. The hardest parts were drafting the collar on the coat and figuring out how the pockets work on the drop front breeches. Once I got my head around it and made Aaron try on multiple muslins, it worked :-) So, without further adieu, here are the pictures. Have a wonderful rest of your weekend. God Bless!

P.S. The gold frock coat fabric and the green waistcoat fabric is what I plan to use on my zone front jacket in the afor mentioned post :-)

OK, that is just fabulous! I hope Mr Dreamy's outfit turns out even half that fantastic! It fits beautifully, and he looks just gorgeous!

Great choice of fabrics too - they allow the suit to fit into a number of decades

Ooh, wow!! Mr. Darcy indeed! :) I love to sew, and I'm pretty courageous, but I don't think even I could undertake such a task. You did a fabulous job!

Hi! My name is Cindy Hook and my husband and I went to the Regency Sherwood Ball. If you look at the pic you posted on your Blog of the dance line-up, we are the couple furthest to the right (I'm in the pale green, jacquard fabric gown). My husband and I are Christians and I see that you are too - how neat! We go to Athey Creek Christian Fellowship. We plan to go to the Winter Ball on 12/5 so we will see you there! :o) - Cindy (cindyhook@gmail.com)

Hi! I'm wondering where you find all of your beautiful fabrics? I sew costumes for a ballet school in Portland, and we're trying to gather up some resources.
The only good fabric stores I know in the area are Fabric Depot and Mill End. Have you managed to find any hidden wonders? (We use home dec fabric as well.)

Hi Angie,

I get my fabric from Fabric Depot, Mill End, and Joann's. The hidden wonders, for me, are in Joann's. THey have 100% silks in 54" wide in their home dec section. If you can catch a sale it can be quite the savings. Thanks and I hope that helps :-)

Thanks! :) Portland is in desperate need of some more fabric stores, don't you think? I miss the days of Jennie's Yardstick, Fabric Land, House of Fabrics, etc etc etc. lol

All your projects are great but this just blows my mind. They look like originals! Your hubby is one lucky guy to have you for a seamstress. :)
