Robe a la Turque Progress

Yesterday, after finishing the Frock Coat of Doom, I started on my next ball gown project. A Robe a la Turque with a new Chemise a la Reine soon to follow. Here are the pictures of the Robe so far. Enjoy!

The original inspiration, with some alterations. It will eventually be worn over a long sleeves chemise a la reine like the one below on the Duchess du Polignac.

Finally here’s the trim I plan to use. I also need to hem it,  add short capped sleeves, and figure out exactly how I want the front to close. God Bless and have a great week!

Lauren, you are a wonder! I can't believe how much you are able to get done along with a full time job on top of it! This is sooo beautiful. This has to be one of the most feminine, romantic looking eras of fashion history. Simply gorgeous. I can't wait to see it all finished!

I really love your robe and how it turned out! I am thinking of making something similar, but I've been looking for period plates or images showing something similar and having trouble finding anything... did you have anything else you used as inspiration for the front particularly? It's a little different from the movie still, it looks to have a tighter fit, not to mention the tie on the outside, rather than underneath. If you could give me some insight I'd really appreciate it! I really admire all of your work! Thanks! And feel free to email me if you want, carlyw24 (at) gmail (dot) com!

This is beautiful! Did you come up with your own pattern? Could one possibly ask for a copy of it? Or suggest another pattern similar?

@ A.Kellog: It isn't really a pattern that can be copied. I designed it by draping fabric on my dress form. There really isn't anything, that I know of, that is close to it available in commercial patterns. My best suggestion would be to look at the Janet Arnold 1798 Open Robe pattern as a guide. That's basically what I did. Hope that helps :D
