Costume Planning

Some of you may know that I have been obsessed with the late 18th century. So, I've ordered the JP Ryan pattern, Robe l'anglaise, and I'm beginning to plan my wardrobe for this year. I'm so excited! There's something so thrilling about costumes, I can't quite explain it. Everytime I look at an extant garment it gives me chills and I want to research more. What can I say, I'm adicted to history. Here are some pictures of dresses I'm hoping to make this year. God Bless!
The above dress from Marie Antoinette, will hopefully be my first creation. I'm currently research fabric choices. I hope to start this in mid Feb or March :-) I'm planning on making a Robe l'Anglaise with long sleeves and a seperate pelise. That way, I have a base garment to build upon.

Well, there's my sneek peak for the year. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

I can't wait to see how your gown turns out, Lauren! You have some really pretty examples to copy from, I haven't yet delved into this era but it looks very feminine and lovely!

Lauren,

I think you have told me before, but humor me and refresh my memory. ;) As too am a history fanatic. I too work outside of the home. When do you do your sewing between work, house upkeep, and other necessities of the week? I’m always looking for ways to fit more into my days, especially for things that I truly enjoy. Thanks, Zebu.

Beautiful gowns, Lauren. I can hardly wait until I see them in the making! Thank you for sharing with us!

Ooh, you get me so excited to make more clothes!! Hee heee hee!! I love the 18th century, too, but I just have NOTHING near me that I can wear them to. No costume guilds or anything. ::sigh:: One day, maybe I'll make something 18th century just for the heck of it...

Can't wait to see how your dresses turn out!

Oh Lauren, I CANNOT wait to see your versions of these gowns!! I love the "Victory Dress" photo so very much. You have inspired me to get to work on my 18th century stays so I can try out this century for myself. . .now that the baby is here and my belly is kinda-sorta-although-not-really flat I think I could try making a set here pretty soon. I have two of the J.P. Ryan patterns and I love them. I can't wait to hear how the Robe l'anglaise pattern works for you.
